As fate would have it, Graham and Kerrie met on a night out in Melbourne and just happened to have a common connection – “He was from Hull in the UK, and my mum’s whole family had also been from Hull.” Kerrie tells us. It proved to be the perfect pickup and this brave bride took it upon herself to make the first move – “I definitely cracked onto him first,” she laughs, “that is his favourite part of the story!”

Laid back and casual, this couple wanted their wedding to be a reflection of them. With their littlest mascot – their son Billy – in mind, they carefully considered certain aspects of the day, “ Having our son with us, we wanted it to be relaxed and easy – I needed to be able to carry him in my dress, and knew he would pull at my hair! He was a huge part of our day, and our guests were so excited to meet him and see us as a little family”

According to Kerrie, Graham can be a little camera-shy, but with Kait Photography on the job, this groom had nothing to worry about! “We liked Kait’s style of taking photos of people in the moment, rather than smiling directly to the camera.” Kerrie tells us, “She spent time getting to know us, and our story which made such a difference. On the day we felt so comfortable!”

Our bride is proudly Brisbane born-and-bred, so these sweethearts made it their mission to show their interstate and overseas guests the very best the city has to offer. Their sunny ceremony was held in the exact spot where Graham proposed – on the waterfront in New Farm Park – while a recently renovated Watt Restaurant made for a stunning reception venue. With top-notch food, contemporary scandi-style and views of the Brisbane river, it was mission accomplished, if you ask us!

Kerrie crossed paths with Yentl of Leaf by Yentl at a bridal fair and they just clicked. “I gave her a few pictures and then let her have creative control and it was incredible. Her style is beautiful and she even made the timber arbour for us on the day and set up all our styling in the restaurant.”

“I had five bridesmaids who I adore,” Kerrie tells us, “however they are all so different. I wanted them to feel like themselves on the day, so they all wore the dress of their choice in white.”

A long-time lover of Zimmermann, this bride had no trouble finding a dress, but she did make a couple of adjustments- “I took it to a dressmaker and had it made a little longer and added the lace touches. I wanted it to feel like “me”. It was different from all the dresses in the bridal shops that I had tried on, and I felt free and comfortable.”

The modern Scandi look at the newly refurbed Watt suited the couple's tastes perfectly. As did the food! "Everyone complimented us on the food as it was delicious. We couldn’t have been happier and no one complained of having an empty drink all night!"
