Candice & Jake’s Low Key Countryside Wedding
Convention means little to Candice and Jake – the couple were so non-traditional in their approach to marriage that they booked their photographer – Todd Hunter McGaw – before Jake had even had a chance to propose! He did eventually, on a quiet Friday night at home, and these sweethearts tied the knot one rainy day on a picturesque property in Legendvale, Queensland.
The property itself belongs to Candice’s grandfather and despite the pair’s plans to wed outside, the weather forced them to make some last minute adjustments. “The rain changed our original plans which moved our ceremony from outdoors to a small cattle-yard shed.” Candice tells us. “Our guests helped style the shed 15 minutes before I arrived at the property. It was magical, intimate and authentic.” Instead of swapping personal vows, they stuck to the usual script and exchanged letters afterwards, a lovely personal touch.
Jake is a not-so-secret creative genius and when it came to the reception, he got to showcase his handiwork, decking out the pavilion with some DIY. “Jake created five long tables to cater for our intimate banquet, lit with pendant lights he’d strung together.” Candice shares proudly. Friends and fam also pitched in, sourcing vintage glassware while the astroturf dance-floor ensured everyone was dancing all night long.
