Tara & Dylan’s Moody Hinterland Wedding

A forecast of showers can be inconvenient at the best of times and even more so on the day of your meticulously planned outdoor wedding. Lucky for Tara and Dylan, Maleny Retreat managed a last-minute relocation, taking them from hillside to inside, so the show could go on, sans anyone getting soaked!

The mist covered Glasshouse Mountains surrounding the retreat were an enchanting backdrop for this hinterland wedding, and memories of these sweetheart’s nuptials are made all the more magical by the masterfully moody snaps by Luke Going.

A colour themed wedding was a no-go for these two, however Tara’s love of all things gilded and golden saw the precious metal tastefully incorporated into their otherwise neutral palette and we’ve gotta say, we’re digging her midas touch.

Nestled in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands, Maleny Retreat was the first and only venue these lovebirds looked at and they struck it lucky, “It was the perfect blank canvas that we could style in anyway that we liked. One of the big selling points for us was that we could stay at the venue all weekend and our guests could spend the night in one of the permanent tipis , meaning we could all regroup on Sunday morning for more celebrations.”

Soft, feminine and elegant, we think these stunning bouqs by Heavenly Blooms are beyond perfect!

After moving indoors due to rain, the pair shared their vows in Maleny Retreat’s gorgeous country house and with 144 guests, they took the idea of an ‘intimate ceremony’ to a whole new level, “We were pushed for space and our company somewhat impersonated sardines for the duration of the nuptials.” Tara laughs, “The wooden balcony of the house became our isle, which was decorated with canvas runners, gorgeous petals and ended with a stunning wooden arbour by Heavenly Blooms.”

First Class Functions supplied and styled the white, silk-lined marquee for the reception and a combination of embedded fairy lights and hanging floral installations added to the ambiance.

Tara’s bridesmaids were super glam in gold sequined gowns by White Runway and we’ve come to the conclusion that every bride needs a gang of golden girls by her side!
Jane Hill Bridal
Tara’s gorgeous custom-made Jane Hill gown fit like a glove and that stunning sweetheart neckline/dropped waist combination has got us taking notes.

“The food (served up by First Class Function) was absolutely amazing,” Tara tells us, “More than we could have ever hoped for a marquee wedding. The guests were treated to eye fillet steak with Moreton Bay Bugs or a delicious vegetable stack for the vegetarians.”
