To the superstitious, rain on your wedding day is said to symbolize luck and fertility. But good fortune aside, a forecast of showers will always be a source of stress, especially if you’ve planned on an outdoor do.

Katherin and Clint had envisaged a sunny spring wedding at Seclusions in the Blue Mountains, but Mother Nature had other plans. Rain. All Day. Save for the 45 minutes when said rain miraculously stopped just in time for the two to say I do. Perhaps some of that luck kicked in a little early!

Willow & Co. was one of the must-have vendors for this couple, and our newlyweds couldn’t be more grateful to their photographers, “No words can describe how incredible Grace and Tim are. Not only are they brilliant and passionate about what they do, they are also the loveliest people.”

Laidback by nature, this cool couple opted for a relaxed vibe and hosting the entire wedding in the one spot meant the day could flow smoothly, from ceremony to reception. A rustic shed elegantly decked out by Ashdown & Bee provided a warm and elegant refuge from the weather and in the end, nothing could rain on Kathrin and Clint’s parade.

Not only did Louise of Little Flower Shop make an impression with her stunning floral arrangements, her dedication earned her some serious brownie points from the bride, “She even braved the rainy weather to put up the floral arrangement on the arbour!” Kathrin tells us. “Thank god the rain stopped and we were able to get married under those amazing flowers!”

Relaxed and informal was key and Kathrin wasn’t going to compromise when it came to her dress. “I knew exactly the look I was going for,” she says, “I wanted something that suited the laidback feel we were going for, super comfortable, simple, a little sexy with a bit of a boho feel.” After much hunting, she finally found ‘the one’ - a lacy Willowby by Watters number with a skin-baring strappy back. Brief met.

Not only did Willow & Co. take some stunning snaps, it’s thanks to them that Kathrin and Clint found their picturesque Blue Mountains venue! “We stumbled across Seclusions when going through our photographers' blog.” Kathrin says. “It ticked all the boxes for our relaxed, informal wedding plans.”

The couple decided to forego favours, instead donating the money they would have spent to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, in memory of Clint’s aunty who lost her battle a month before the wedding.

Informal or not, every wedding needs a feast and Society Catering came up with the perfect pizza and antipasto spread for these laidback lovers. “I love the concept of shared feasting at a wedding,” says Kathrin, “and looking back on the day I wish I had more time between mingling with all our guests to stuff my face with the deliciousness created by the Society Catering team.”

"We Play Records promised to spin the tunes and bring the vibe and boy did they deliver," Kathrin tells us. "By the end of the night all our family and friends were up grooving the night away."

There is something so beautiful about a mountain setting, and the dark skies add an awesome vibe to the whole thing. Love it.

Stay in the loop!
