Claire and Mitchell chose to tie the knot at The Gables for a very special reason; it was where Claire’s parents and grandparents were married! And what a gorgeous venue too, the perfect setting for their vintage-inspired, shabby chic wedding. Mitchell (who owns and runs Bare Design) designed the invitations and stationery, while Claire spent many hours creating and collecting personal touches for the ceremony and reception. Their gorgeous day was captured by one of my favourite photographers, Lakshal Perera. Beautiful work as always Lucky!

These two have perhaps the cutest engagement story I’ve ever heard. Mitchell enlisted the assistance of their pet bunny, Watson, for his proposal. He got down on one knee and then Watson came hopping over with a ribbon around his neck, with a ring tied to it. Smart move Mitchell, who could say no to that?!

The loved-up pair quickly set about building their collection of vintage treasures to adorn their big day. “We spent ages scouring markets and second hand stores,” says Claire “collecting lots of antique bottles and vessels for our flowers. Our florist did a beautiful job creating vintage bouquets, button holes, corsages and other flowers in our theme colours of ivory, champagne and eucalyptus green.”

When it came to her dress, Claire admits she’d never paid it a thought prior to getting engaged “I’ve always had my own style,” she says “so it was important to me to find something that suited my personality. Much like many people say, despite trying a number of dresses on, the first dress I saw was the one I fell in love with and ended up choosing. I just adore Anna Campbell’s styling, and could have easily picked any one of her beautiful creations for my wedding day.”
