As country kids who spent many a night as teens camping under the stars, Tegan and Luke knew they’d found the perfect venue for their wedding when they came across Mango Hill Farm in country Queensland.

Tegan explains, “We wanted somewhere that was a bit of a clean slate, where we could DIY and design it just how we wanted it. The final decider was actually standing in the ceremony location and picturing it all unfolding. Mango Hill was the only place that felt right to us.”

These childhood sweethearts chose Luke Going Photography to capture the day and he was well worth the investment, not only delivering on the photography front but also impressing the guests! “Luke was amazing!” Tegan says. “Our guests loved him because they thought he kind of looked like Johnny Depp and we love him because our photos are amazing… Our day is locked in time thanks to Luke.”

Tegan’s wedding dress will make you want to get married all over again, but you wouldn’t be able to replicate this beauty; it was made using Tegan’s grandmother’s wedding dress. “Not long after we got engaged my grandmother was about to give her dress away to good will and my Mum suggested I try it on, just for a laugh to see if it would fit. It almost did and even with the long lace sleeves and huge lace neckline I had this weird desire to make it into something beautiful I could wear.” Tegan enlisted the expertise of Susan Ogg to help convert the dress into something a little more modern. “She was the perfect match for me. She took my vision and made it a reality down to the very smallest detail.”

Tegan and Luke did a fair bit of DIY to keep the budget in check and make their day more personal. From the stationery to the table linen and floral arrangements, they injected a lot of love into the styling and were even inspired to start their own business. “We made tree stump candle holders for our reception tables and they were such a hit that we have started selling them and plan to launch an online shop over the next few months called Stump and Co.”

The reception set up was simple and allowed the natural beauty of the venue to really shine. Festoon lights were strung over timber tables and chairs from Complete Party Hire with lace table runners, amber bottles filled with native foliage and those handmade tree stump candle holders.

Tegan’s reception dress was a cute little number from Grace Loves Lace which she chose for the detached sleeves and the fact that it was “just really fun to wear”.
