As avid travellers and lovers of the sun and surf, a destination wedding was a natural choice for Mitch and Alyssa. They celebrated in style with their 85 guests at Bali’s premier boutique resort, Villa Infinity.  Sydney photographer, Scott Surplice, came along to capture the day in all its vibrant detail.

“The day was a mix of boho chic with lots of colour” says Alyssa. “Being in Bali, we wanted to have a bright, fun, relaxed feeling – a reflection of us as a couple and just a big party with our nearest and dearest!” On a friend’s recommendation, the couple got Bali wedding planners, Beyond Events, onboard to help bring their vision together, and Alyssa says it was the best decision they could have made. “Having a wedding planner made life super easy. It gave me the chance to focus on the smaller details and just get excited in the lead up to our special day.”

And focus on the details she did! Having a wedding far from home didn’t deter Alyssa from creating lots of delicate DIY details, including hundreds of gold dipped feathers for the table settings and ceremony backdrop, and their amazing paper tassel garlands that hung from giant white balloons. She also made the colourful feather boutonnieres for Mitch and his groomsmen, which together with their adorable Etsy bow ties, made the perfect finishing touches to their casually dapper outfits.

Alyssa looked stunning in a tropical-friendly Grace Loves Lace gown, with a beaded headpiece by Bo & Luca. Her neon bridesmaids wore pink Sheike dresses with bold everlasting flower crowns by Summerblossom.

After an emotional poolside ceremony, guests celebrated with an abundance of local delights on long tables adorned with vibrant flowers, pineapples and candles. Dancing of course ensued, but the humid tropical heat proved to be a little too much, and before long they were all in the pool. Alyssa recalls “looking around at our friends and family having the best time dancing, swimming fully clothed and wrestling on the giant swans, we were lost for words that these people were first of all, in Bali together at the same time, and secondly, that they were there for us!!”
