There were plenty of places this couple might have chosen to tie the knot – now Sydneysiders, Jane originally hails from Adelaide and Jesse The Netherlands. In the end it was the heritage-listed White House in the Adelaide Hills that stole their hearts and set the tone for a romantic garden wedding, captured by Whitewall Photography.
Jane tells us, “Jesse and I wanted to get married in a garden, with music and a dance floor under the stars. We wanted good food, good wine and a great party. We didn’t really have a theme. I wanted a combination of feminine, elegant, boho, vintage and romantic all rolled into one.”
And romantic it certainly was, as was Jesse’s proposal. Having chosen an antique diamond ring and flown to Adelaide to seek Jane’s father’s permission, he proposed at the café where they’d met years ago when he was working as a chef and Jane as a waitress. Jane recalls, “It was pretty amazing, and needless to say Dad was impressed by the grand gesture.”
When it comes to advice, Jane recommends staying as calm as possible on your big day. “Even though Jesse ripped his trousers on the way to the wedding (quickly fixed by Mum), and my wedding car didn’t start, I still managed to stay calm. Just enjoy it and don’t take things too seriously. Everyone is guaranteed to have the time of their lives when there is good food, wine, dancing and most of all, love.”
