While its common name is enough to give you the creeps (‘love lies bleeding’, yikes!) flowering amaranth is a uniquely dramatic wedding bloom. Suspended from botanic chandeliers or ceremony arches, its tumbling tendrils create magical canopies of movement and texture. A mass of cascading colour, an amaranth bouquet is impossible to tame.
Flowering late summer through to autumn, amaranth grows easily in Australia, making it an inexpensive option to use en masse. Whilst often given ‘filler’ status, we think this tassel-like beauty is worthy of centre stage, as evidenced in the gorge pics to follow.
