Same sex marriage may (finally!) be legal here in Australia, but Emily and Charlotte decided they just couldn’t wait a minute longer to be married, so went ahead with their garden party wedding late last year on their own terms. Locking in Perth photographer Adam Levi Browne was top of their agenda, and these love-filled pics have us swooning.

Held in the lush staggered gardens of a friend’s home in Darlington, WA, they knew early on that they wanted an non-traditional, party atmosphere for the day. Such a vibrant, green setting meant the decor was pretty much sorted. “We didn’t really need to do much styling which was great, just a few things here and there, and bits of furniture so that people could chill and relax as the night progressed. It was one big eating, drinking, dancing, laughing and a little bit of crying fest!”

Wanting to get their friends involved on the day, they were married by their long-time mate Kiran, keeping the ceremony personal and intimate “She’s a bit of a nomad and traveller so the first thing we had to do was find where she was currently living, and then ask her to marry us. We’re glad she said yes, we could not image having anyone else! We all met each other at the same time and she’s been such an important part of our relationship.”

Keeping with the relaxed vibe, their good friend Wendy from When Inspired provided roaming veggie canapés to keep guests mingling. “We’re about 90% vegan and we know that some people are really put off by the idea of vegetarian/vegan food, but what Wendy does with her food is artistry! We wanted to share her amazing creations with our friends and family, and also show people it really can be delicious! And every single guest was absolutely wowed!”
