“We just wanted a really laid back, easy wedding with an epic amount of partying!” Says Kimberly of her Balmain Hotel wedding. She and Michael tied the knot at the quirky Sydney pub, in a day filled with colour, sequins and enormous grins. Nina Claire joined the cruisy couple to capture every playful moment.

Not exactly the traditional type, a white wedding dress was out of the question for Kimberly. “I’m all about the leopard print and sequins” she says, and while Mic vetoed the leopard print, her sexy sequin number was a total show-stopper!

And this particular show was all about having a blast. “Funny and short” were the couple’s ceremony requisites, ably fulfilled by celebrant, Rochelle Haley of The Asking. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle to The Beatles’ Hey Jude, with Kimberly making her entrance just as the song hit its peak. The guests, drinks in-hand, erupted in a chorus of ‘Naaa naaaa naaaa na na na naaaa!’ as the dazzling bride met her beaming groom. Eager to get on with the party, formalities were kept short and sweet, with “lots of laughs, a few nice bits and it was over before anyone had a chance to tune out.”

Great food was a nonnegotiable and The Balmain didn’t disappoint. Piles of sliders and mini hot dogs, boxes of fish and chips and Asian chicken salad were washed down with local brews and signature his and hers cocktails.

A self-confessed social media junkie, Kimberly was delighted to discover Social Playground at a recent One Fine Day bridal fair. The live Instagram printer was a hit with all, the bride telling me “even my grandma was an insty addict by the end of the night!”
