Cass got more than she bargained for when she bagged an $8 Scoopon for six weeks of CrossFit classes, where she happened to meet the love her life! She recalls, “I still remember to this day the moment I walked into the gym at 6am and saw Simon – scruffy hair, old gym tee, trackies, ugg boots and all.” The chill pair threw a suitably chill wedding, with the talented Alex of Motta Weddings behind the lens for their relaxed, organic affair.

Wanting the day to feel like ‘a really big life-changing picnic’, the couple opted for a venue with a great outdoor space and blank canvas interior. The Estate Trentham in Victoria proved the ideal spot to create their laid back wedding. Cass shares, “We scattered rugs and cushions over the backyard and hired games for our guests to play – Jenga was a massive hit.”

With a beautiful venue to start, the couple kept styling minimal. A cute hand lettered ‘shit just got real’ motif by Kate Pullen was printed to plywood by the bride’s own studio, Wood to Wall. In-lieu of a seated dinner, and keeping with the relaxed vibe of the day, guests were served delicious entrees and mains from Paleo food truck Craved by Caveman.

Cass and Simon’s advice to others tying the knot is to choose like-minded artists and suppliers who get your vision. “We were blessed with such an incredible array of vendors who really made our day as special as it was, so putting effort into picking the right people definitely paid off for us.”

Wanting the freedom to create their wedding from scratch, The Estate Trentham offered country charm and a blank canvas to do exactly what they wanted. The effortlessly stylish barn required little decor, some native Australian foliage suspended from the rafters did the trick.

Cass’s gorgeous two-piece was made Vicky Chatzis of Vasiliki Couture .  “I was the horrible bride that only gave Vicky two months to make this incredible dress but she was so accommodating. We wanted it to be flowy and understated, and splitting into two pieces made it younger and less formal.” Cass completed her bridal look with a stunning flower crown and burgundy Swedish clogs by Sandgrens (before kicking them off at the altar to go barefoot for the rest of the day).

Wootton & Nicholls Cass gave florist the brief of a ‘happy clash’ of burgundies and reds, sans roses, and they delivered this gorgeous eclectic mix of blooms. The bride shares, “They were so beautiful I basically didn't put my bouquet down all day/night.”

Wanting her bridesmaids to feel amazing in their dresses, Mister Zimi delivered the goods. The label designs multiple styles in each print, so after picking a bright and happy design her ladies could choose a style that felt most themselves in.

With a candid and relaxed style, Alex Motta of Motta Weddings captured the warmth of the day perfectly. Clearly rapt with these gorgeous snaps, the couple had nothing but sweet words to say. “We cannot thank him enough for his work, he is one-of-a-kind and so so amazing at what he does.”

196Below The Ice Cream Van made a surprise appearance for the couple’s version of a wedding cake - in the form of various gin and tonic alcoholic ice cream flavours made using nitrogen right there on the spot. There was booze free chocolate ice creams as well, so little ones in attendance didn’t miss out on the fun.
