Best of 2016: Wedding Cakes

January 3, 2017
In 2016, the creative wedding cake reigned supreme for our featured couples. A far cry from the traditional necessity it once represented, the wedding cake is now an adventure in flavour and an expression of originality.
Texture played a key role for cakers in 2016. Artful techniques of ink and watercolour were popular, as were marble and stone-inspired looks. Painterly textures, drips and metallic leaf were some of our favourite styles.
The nearly-naked look with fresh flowers remained a firm favourite, and with good reason! We loved seeing so many couples embark on DIY caking adventures and recruiting loved ones to contribute to epic dessert tables.
Whatever your flavour, we’re pretty sure you’ll find something to drool over in 2016’s best wedding cakes…
