Looking back at 2018’s most popular florals, the three elements that really stood out were colour, form and scale. Continuing our ‘Best of’ series, we’ve lined up the bold and beautiful blooms that tickled your fancy over the last 12 months.
In a shift away from the wild florals trending in previous years, 2018 was all about perfect petals and architectural forms. Quicksand roses continued to be huge but the Phalaenopsis orchid had to be the flower of the year, adding form and drama to countless bouquets and arrangements.
Blush and burgundy continued to be a coveted colour combo, but we did see more in the way of clashing hues and unexpected palettes.
It was awesome to see so many florists putting sustainable practices at the forefront of their ethos in 2018. Many transitioned away from toxic floral foam and went to painstaking lengths to ensure all post-wedding florals were repurposed or composted.
As usual, we’re pumped to see so many of our talented Nouba florists included in the lineup! If you’re on the hunt for a floral genius in your neck of the woods, be sure to stop by the Directory.
The greenery bouquet was huge in 2017 and Kristelle kept the trend alive this year with her lush arrangement of ferns, amaranth and lotus pods. Images by Damien Milan from Myles and Kristelle’s Sydney wedding.
