Best of 2019: Wedding Dresses (and Jumpsuits!)

If we were to sum up 2019’s bridal vibe in three words, it would be ‘minimal, structural, modern.’ In fact, ‘minimal wedding dress’ was one of Pinterest’s most searched terms by Australian brides over the last year! And from where we sit, it appears that local designers are leading the way with contemporary looks for the modern bride. Georgia Young Couture, One Day Bridal and Lola Varma are just a few Australian designers that spring to mind when it comes to fashion forward bridal.

Even labels known for their lace-driven, boho or ethereal styles, pared things right back with some of their pieces in 2019. Grace Loves Lace released a handful of silky satin numbers, alongside their signature lace designs. Similarly, Anna Campbell – known for embellished, romantic styles – designed a number of simple, stylish gowns for the modern 2019 bride.

And as for the Nouba bride? As always, it was a mixed bag, just how we like it. Structural, architecturally-inspired gowns sat alongside dreamy lace numbers, non-bridal dresses and the occasional jumpsuit. Asymmetrical and off-shoulder designs were big in 2019, and sequins (massive in 2018) were still making plenty of appearances.

We could show you many, MANY more gorgeous bridal styles from the year that was, but here are the 10 standouts that you loved the most.
