Alice and Nick’s wedding at The Boathouse Shelley Beach was not only a celebration of their love but also of their local community, and Damien Milan was on hand to capture all the sweet details.

The couple explain, “We live in Manly and absolutely love it here – the beaches are beautiful and it has a true community feel. We wanted the day to reflect who we are and the people and things we love so we centred our wedding around home and the relaxed vibe of the area.”

The beachside venue already reflected Alice and Nick’s style and required minimal decoration. White House Flowers created some beautiful hanging wreaths and pineapples on the tables added a tropical touch. The couple describe the florals as, “beyond all of our wildest flower dreams.”

The decision to forego a traditional bridal party and instead get ready with their best mates meant that Alice and Nick had more time alone as well as with their loved ones. “Between the ceremony and reception, we had photos on our own which really gave us the opportunity to connect with each other and made time slow down. It also meant we needed less time for photos and were able to join the reception sooner,” they share.

The stunning rings were designed by Natalie Marie Jewellery. Alice says, “Natalie is a true artist, she is based in Avalon and is an absolute pleasure to work with. She custom designed our rings and we couldn’t love them more. Nick’s ring is a brushed rose-gold which works beautifully on him, and is a little outside the norm for the groom.”

It always seems such a shame to hide beautiful shoes underneath a wedding gown, but Alice found the perfect solution to this problem - her strapless dress by Lover with its stepped hem put her dusty pink velvet Steve Madden heels on show.

Celebrant Lisa Parker helped the childhood sweethearts to put together a ceremony that was one-of-a-kind. For a start, the couple met halfway down the aisle and included their French Bulldog, Louis, in the formalities. Add a musical performance by Alice’s dad, a poem written by Alice’s brother and a reading by Nick’s mother, and you have one tear-jerker of a ceremony!

We love a groom who coordinates with his bride! Nick chose a blue suit by Joe Black with a velvet ASOS bow tie which complemented Alice’s shoes perfectly.

Alice and Nick gave The Boathouse a rave review: “The food was served family style, which everyone enjoyed and everything was delicious – fresh oysters, canapes and the incredible cheese platters and desserts. It was so important to us that no one went hungry, and we can safely say that didn’t happen!”
