Bohemian Elopement Shoot at Barrington Tops
This Barrington Tops elopement shoot has us craving a romantic getaway in the woods. And If you’re wondering how Barefoot & Bearded managed to capture these babes looking so in love, it’s because they are – Jacob and Remi are a real life couple.
Newcastle-native, Joel Alston of Barefoot & Bearded is passionately pro-elopement, so much so that the idea for this shoot came to him whilst scouting cool climate locations. “Ever since I started planning my own elopement I’ve felt even more passionate about photographing elopements for other lovely couples. They take away so much stress from the wedding planning process, whilst also saving a lot of money for the honeymoon!”
After teeing up some his fave vendors, including The Wedding Designer on styling/floristry and Chic Artistry on hair and makeup, Joel approached surfing buddy Jacob to see if he and his partner Remi would be interested. The results are absolutely dreamy and as if the natural beauty of this Hunter Valley location wasn’t enough, we’re completely blown away by this super cool pair.
Channeling a Picnic at Hanging Rock meets flower child vibe in a bell-sleeved Grace Loves Lace number, Remi looked right at home ‘neath the towering trees, her halo of blooms completing the earthy look. Meanwhile Jacob looked every bit the folky rockstar in a Rundle Tailoring suit and boots and can we just say those luscious locks are causing some serious hair envy, even underneath that feathered fedora!
From a photography perspective, Joel says eloping makes things a whole lot simpler, “It makes it so much easier for the couple to get AMAZING photographs. Eloping gives you so much flexibility for the location and timing of the day, ensuring you get the best photos possible.”

Hi there,
I just looked through the pictures of the Bohemian wedding at Barrington Tops, its literally exactly what I had planned for our elopement!
Did they just walk in and set up themselves, or was there a permit they needed to get in order to use the space?
Thanks so much,
El
