Sam & Taya’s Boho Paddock Wedding

Lucas & Co were an easy choice when it came to capturing Sam and Taya’s day – not only are the photographers incredibly talented, they just so happen to be among Sam and Taya’s good friends. With blue skies all round, the pair were blessed with ideal weather for an outdoor do and their bohemian ceremony was one of the sweetest we’ve seen.

Sam and Taya knew they wanted to tie the knot under a tree but you might be surprised just how tricky tree-hunting can be. The pair spotted the perfect one in a Wooyung paddock on the drive from Byron Bay to Melbourne, left a note in the owner’s letterbox and lucky for them, the property’s owners were more than happy to have them!

“Our main goal in planning the wedding was to keep the style very true to who we are.” Taya tells us, “We wanted to party with our families and friends!”And party they did, at Kingscliff’s Babalou. With its ocean views and rustic exposed timber beams, it suited Sam and Taya’s vibe perfectly.

Something backless and something that wouldn’t restrict her twirling ability were non-negotiables when it came to Taya’s wedding dress and Frenchlace Brides nailed it. A custom-made chiffon skirt and lace bodice were exactly what this bride had envisaged. Paired with some delicate barefoot sandals by Forever Soles, Taya well and truly fit the boho bill.

Bridesmaid dresses weren’t an easy find, but Taya finally found the perfect lacy style at H&M.

It takes a certain type of groom to get away with a denim shirt, but truth be told, we can’t picture Sam in anything else! Paired with navy Zara chinos and his beloved Akubra, this dude totally nailed the boho vibe.

Taya decided to source her own flowers and foliage from Tugun Fruit and Flowers, recruiting her bridesmaids to help create the bouquets, floral crowns and table settings. “It was so easy to organise and added a personal touch to the day knowing that we put it together ourselves!” She tells us. “The flowers were a highlight for me.”

Friends or not, Lucas & Co made quite the professional impression on their newlywed pals, “They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed on the day.” Taya tells us. “They're the most wonderful team, our photos are amazing and we could not be happier!”

Babalou got rave reviews from Sam and Taya, who not only fell for the beautifully rustic interior, but were also won over by the delicious food!.The food was amazing, we chose share plates for our guests, and there was plenty to go around!”
