Bec & Sam’s Byron Bay Engagement Shoot
Watching the full moon rise from Cape Byron Lighthouse is something of a ritual for Bec and Sam, so when Sam organised a picnic at their favourite twilight haunt, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. “We jumped over the fence and laid out a blanket on the grass,” Bec recalls, “it was already incredibly romantic when to my surprise a lunar eclipse began. We watched in awe and at the end, he proposed. It was such a sweet and private moment with only the moon to witness it. Just perfect.”
For these ocean lovers, a barefoot engagement shoot on the sandy shores of Byron’s Tallows Beach was definitely in order. Neither was used to having their photo taken, but Photographer Meg Kelly put them at ease. Bec tells me “Meg made us feel so comfortable and relaxed, she really encouraged us to just be ourselves. Even when the ocean surged and we all had to make a mad dash up the beach, Meg kept clicking and captured the moment for us.”
A self confessed addict of local label, Spell and the Gypsy, Bec’s boho style is encapsulated by her bright floral playsuit and tassel kimono. While the couple aren’t far along in their wedding planning, Bec tells me the day will have bohemian feel. “A small mid morning ceremony with close friends and family followed by a picnic style lunch with plenty of Moroccan rugs, low tables and cushions. And of course Meg will be there to capture our day for us.”
