Captured by Lauren Campbell, Jen and Andrew’s modern Cafe Morso wedding has us head over heels, as does the story of how these two ended up together.

It seems some things are meant to be, and for this couple it was a case of the timing finally being right. Andrew is the NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and Jen is a graphic designer/photographer. Jen says, “Andrew and I have known each other for around 14 years. After finding each other single at the same time (we’ve both been married before), Andrew asked me out for a coffee, and the rest is history!”

When it came to their wedding it was important to Andrew and Jen that their guests had a great time. “We wanted our wedding to feel more like a big party than a structured ‘event’. We had three priorities on the day… good food, good music, and good wine!” Cafe Morso was the perfect spot and the pair describe their experience with the venue as “faultless”.

A designer by day, Jen was very hands on with the styling, contrasting the dark, industrial surroundings with pops of colour and metallic accents for a bit of glam. “Being our second wedding, we didn’t want it to be too fussy, but we still wanted the venue to feel special,” she shares.

As much as Jen enjoyed bringing together the look of the wedding, she never lost sight of the meaning of the day and has some wise advice for others: “A wedding should be a purely personal affair, a reflection of you both as individuals, as well as who you represent as a couple. Don’t let the stress of perfection ruin the journey. Your guests are there to celebrate your love, not to admire how much money you’ve spent on decorations.”

Flowers were pivotal in the styling of Jen and Andrew’s wedding and their florist was also one of Jen’s close friends, Nicole of Folklore & Co. “My colour scheme came from the flowers, which were purchased the morning before at Sydney Flower Markets. Nicole worked with what I chose that morning. It was hard to go past the exquisitely scented peonies in varying shades of pinks, but my favourite bloom was the gorgeous little flannel flowers that she worked into my bouquet so beautifully.”

Jen glowed in a simple Alex Perry number and recalls her hunt for the perfect gown: “I knew I wanted something from an Australian designer and it needed to be simple yet elegant. After months of searching, I walked into George and there on the rack was a gorgeous white Alex Perry number which fit like a glove.”

The Press Club Band kept Jen and Andrew’s guests on the dance floor all night and the groom surprised many of them by joining the band on the drums! Jen recalls, “Our guests were absolutely gobsmacked because nobody had any idea he could do that. It was a great moment.”
