Megan and Jono first crossed paths in the school yard and though each has different memories of their meeting, one detail remains the same for both – they fell for each other pretty much straightaway! With Ryder Evans behind the lens, these high-school sweethearts held their beautiful ceremony ‘neath the trees at Cape Bouvard Winery, a fusion of bushland and beach that suited them to a tee.

We’re beach lovers and had visions of getting married near the ocean,” explains Megan, “but we wanted the day to be as easygoing as possible, so we decided to bring ‘beach to the bush’. Overall, we just wanted to keep it very simple and make it all about the people, the love and our value of marriage.”

A whole lotta DIY helped these darlings orchestrate their dream wedding on a budget, whilst providing the personal touch they desired. Invitations, signage, bunting, decorations – they did it all, and had the expert eye of their pals at Covet Collect help with styling and extra props on the day. They sourced their own flowers from Little Petal Floral Design and in keeping with the rustic vibe of their wedding, they DIY’ed the bouquets too! “We were going for a wild posy type look, as if you had just grabbed a bunch of flowers on your way to the beach.” Megan tells us.

Being the laidback beach babe that she is, Megan wanted a look that reflected her style. After struggling to find the right dress in Perth, she discovered Dreamers & Lovers online, had a sample dress sent and that was that! She settled on a gorg two-piece number and with her foliage crown from Little Petal Floral Design, she looked every bit the bohemian bride.

Despite the super hot WA day, Jono was adamant that he’d wear his blue velvet arocashT blazer, and he made quite the stylish groom in a crisp white, open collar shirt and navy chinos from Roger David.

Having mates in the styling scene is always a plus and Ebony, Ben and Emma of Covet Collect orchestrated a relaxed aesthetic. In keeping with the beachy/bush vibe, they brought in props and materials to suit and in addition to the flowers on hand, they also sourced some eucalyptus, dusty miller and wheat to add to the sand dune/shrubbery feel.

With one half of the couple a skilled photographer (Jono has a passion for surf and landscape photography), snaps were always going to be important, so when it came to capturing their day, Ryder Evans made the cut. “We came across Ryder on Instagram and fell in love with the technical and emotional aspects of his work and also the way that he spoke about people – we could tell that he was the kind of person we wanted on our day.”

"Cape Bouvard Winery was raw and real as well as extremely affordable, which suited us perfectly." Says Megan. "The owners were very flexible and Jono was sold on the homemade wines and craft beers after tasting them."
