Cass & Luke’s Modern Urban Elopement at M Arts Precinct
After Cass and Luke had to cancel their round-the-world honeymoon (also dubbed as their time to run away from adult responsibilities) and their Brisbane ceremony was no longer on the cards due to border restrictions, this couple’s Murwillumbah NSW wedding wasn’t exactly what they had planned. Luckily, with The Elopement Collective swooping in to create their dream elopement ceremony at M Arts Precinct, and with a little extra money to splurge on the ring, the couple now look at their cancelled plans as a blessing in disguise.
The setup
Putting their trust into Amey, florist/stylist from The Perfect Party Co and Rosenthal Creative to run with her imagination for the ceremony setup and bouquet, the couple say their expectations were exceeded. “We told our amazing florist to design something innovative, unique and on-trend,” says Cass. “We told her to surprise us! Needless to say, walking into the ceremony space was breathtaking.”
The ceremony
Cass and Luke wanted their ceremony to be modern and urban, while feeling like an intimate party for just the two of them. “We’re both pretty laidback and the thought of having a hundred people attend our wedding horrified us – it just didn’t feel right for who we are,” explains Cass. “We wanted something that felt authentic to our style but still let us indulge on the things that were important to us and make for some groovy photos to share with everyone.” A few searches later and the pair came across M Arts Precinct, which suited their style to a tee – and being the first couple to get hitched at the hidden industrial gem made it even more special!
Cass and Luke couldn’t say enough about The Elopement Collective who took the stress off organising the ceremony. “Having The Elopement Collective take care of the whole ceremony meant we just had to turn up on the day, all dolled up and get hitched!” shares Cass. “It was so stress free and exactly what we wanted. Josh Withers, one half of The Elopement Collective was our celebrant and kept our ceremony short, sweet and let us focus on our vows which were the most important thing to us.”
Attire
Wanting to wear something sleek, unique and timeless that represented an elevated version of her style, Cass went for a short blazer dress (ASOS) with a felt hat (Smoky Mountain Hats), pearl veil (Blue Sky Horizons) and gorgeous Loeffler Randall shoes. “I’ve always wanted to wear a veil under a hat inspired by The Parent Trap, so this was where my outfit evolved from,” shares Cass. The loose silhouette of her blazer also meant “I could fit a whole pizza and bottle of wine in for dinner and no one would know!” Keeping with the informal vibe, Luke chose to ditch the tie and wore a Boston Fine Tailoring suit, Brixton hat, John Henric lapel pin/cuff links and Double Oak Mills shoes.
Photography
The couple say choosing a photographer through The Elopement Collective was difficult since they all looked amazing. “We chose Tessa Shannon as her photos seemed to capture authentic, candid moments and boy did she deliver! Harley from Bulb Creative took care of film and they were a match made in heaven. They both made us feel super relaxed and really captured the vibe of our day and who we are as a couple,” says Cass.
A few words of advice
“Focus your day on what is important to you as a couple,” says Cass. “As hard as it may be not to do what parents, family or friends might want, your wedding day should be what feels authentic to you. If that’s hundreds of people celebrating your love with you, then do that! But for us, what felt authentic was a small, intimate ceremony where we could spend the whole day together, breathing in every detail and spending quality time together. If you’re contemplating eloping – DO IT! It was the best way to start our married lives together and we would do it a thousand times over if we could.”
