Lauren & Steve’s Central Coast Wedding
As the old adage goes, it was written in the stars. Though in Steve and Lauren’s case, it was written in the seaweed. Steve popped the question on a sunrise visit to their favourite lookout, with a ring handmade from the finest grass and gum-nuts he could find. Below was a message he had crafted in the sand – seaweed and driftwood spelling out I LOVE YOU LAUREN. These sweethearts made it official in Wagstaffe Hall on the Central Coast and Brendan from Bear Deer Fox was on hand to capture it all.
As if the adorable pics don’t speak for themselves, the pair couldn’t stop raving about the fabulous photography, “Brendan took amazing photos and when we got them back we both remarked at how we didn’t even remember him taking the photos,” Lauren says, “the sign of a perfect wedding photographer!”
Steve looked quite the charming chap in a herringbone waistcoat and hemp chinos from Braintree. while Lauren was an ethereal vision in vintage from Maggie May Bridal. She tells me, “I found Rose and Vienna incredibly helpful, encouraging and honest about the dresses. I loved my dress, felt really comfortable and felt like myself.”
The pretty, lace-cloaked number drew plenty of compliments, and alongside her demurely dressed bridesmaids in Deerfield Vintage, you’d be forgiven for thinking the three were on their way to a Picnic at Hanging Rock. The Beauté Group was blessed with a beauty of a canvas in Lauren, and softly swept back hair amped up the romantic style.
These enviro-friendly folk lessened their eco-footprint by using recycled jars, along with plates and cutlery from their local Vinnie’s. Flowers took centre-stage in the decorations department, with Merrin Grace Floral Design adorning every surface with blooms, including the crowns of the bridal party. Lauren was full of praise for the flower maven, saying “Merrin did a huge job by coming to set up the flowers on the Friday before, she was so professional, efficient and creative.”
Quite the creative herself, Lauren (of Lauren Merrick Illustration) put her illustration skills to use, designing the most enchanting wedding invitations we’ve ever seen. If we could, we’d jump straight into the starry scene and join this quirky couple’s party! The one piece of wedding advice they’d like to pass on? “Plan the day that you want, not the day you think you should have.”
