Proposing in front of friends is not for the fainthearted, but Tim, the gutsiest groom we know, plucked up the courage at a group dinner. A yes from Jess was all it took, and these two tied the knot under a canopy of towering pines at Canberra’s National Arboretum, with Lauren Campbell on hand to capture it all.
Though they didn’t have a specific theme in mind, according to Jess, the wedding ended up being a mixture of “eclectic country, boho chic” complete with cowboy hats and country serenades courtesy of the groom. Prior to the day, this sentimental bride spent every weekend trawling secondhand shops for table decorations and the couple DIY’ed favours, putting together little bottles of olive oil, fresh from Tim’s parents olive groves.
The groom was the definition of a gentlemen in his navy MJ Bale suit, donning a cowboy hat as tribute to the couple’s love of country music. Jess, on the other hand, opted for an unconventional ensemble, pairing a delicate lace blouse by Rue De Seine with a figure hugging floor length Roland Mouret skirt. With her wavy tresses and Samantha Wills adornments, she’s got us converted – all hail the skirt-top combo, so very chic!
The 2617 Group took care of both catering and wedding coordination, while Lauren Campbell had these cuties feeling super comfortable in front of her camera. Jess says “Lauren felt more like a close friend then someone we hired to do our photos,” and the dedicated photographer even ran back after hours to capture some magic on the dance-floor.
Albert Hall’s high ceilings, iconic pilasters and arch-headed windows make it quite the character, and an ideal location for Jess and Tim’s reception. Jess felt especially drawn to it’s ambient atmosphere, as the place held a little of her family’s history. She tells us, “My Oma and Pa spent many nights kicking up their heels at the local Saturday night dances there.” And what a coincidence, because we hear that Jess and Tim did a damn good job of following in their fanciful footsteps.
For their first dance, the newlyweds hit the floor to an acoustic cover of Lil’ Jon’s ‘Get Low’. Yes you know the one, “To the window, to the wall….” Quite a cheeky choice, and let’s just say they enjoyed watching the reaction of their guests!
