Having suffered through months of drought, it could only be a good omen that the heavens finally opened on Chris’ family farm in on the day of his and Libby’s wedding. Fortunately the Sunshine Coast couple avoided the worst of the elements (including nearby hailstorms) to have a ‘perfect day’ on the dusty dairy farm. Capturing all the special moments and those gorgeous ochre tones was photographer, Bec Smith (aka BXCSMXTH).

Bridal gown and bridesmaids

“I went to the Marquise trunk show at Sphere Collective, I tried various styles but this particular dress just felt like me.” Libby’s bridesmaids wore emerald slips from Silk Laundry and the gand was made wedding ready by Jody Callan on hair and Miranda Emblem on makeup.

The vendors

“We really did have the A team with our vendors,” shares Libby. “Anna (stylist – Made to Match Events) and Nat (florist – Heavenly Blooms) worked amazingly together, they are both so creative and have an eye for detail so nothing was overlooked. We honestly just let them run wild (within budget) and just do their thing. We completely trusted them and we were not disappointed. Bec from Vanteen was so lovely to work with and the food was amazing and plentiful. And of course, Rebecca (photographer) who made Chris and I feel so relaxed and captured all the special moments! We cannot fault any of our vendors, would highly recommend them all!”

The ceremony

“It had not rained on the farm for months in the lead up to the wedding.” explains Libby. “We had to irrigate the wedding site in the lead up to the wedding as the ground was practically dirt. The afternoon of our wedding there was a massive storm that somehow went completely around us with only a small sprinkle of rain pre ceremony. The afternoon was just perfect. Chris and I decide to write our own vows, which was really special. We kept the ceremony styling simple and let the location shine with views of the Glasshouse Mountains.”

The reception

“Following the ceremony and canapes we had a sit-down share fare style dinner, followed by speeches and dancing. We had a beautiful hanging installation over the bridal table and the tables were styled with florals, candles and emerald green napkins.”
