Describing their low-key wedding as a ‘community project’, Seth and Pascal worked together with their nearest and dearest to create a day that was all the more special for their involvement. Melbourne photographer, Marie-Luise, was behind the lens for this authentic and relaxed celebration at Coberg Moreland Bowls Club.

The Bowls Club was adorned with suspended floral arrangements of eucalyptus and gum flowers that were foraged the day before. Seth shares, “We were married by Pascal’s childhood friend in front of 150 family and friends. Somehow everybody crowded in and it all came together.”

A true blue DIY affair, everything except the lighting, linen, food and glassware were thanks to the efforts of the couple and their helpers. “It was a lot of work, but seeing our community come together so joyfully to help us put on the party was one of the most special things about our wedding.” Dinner was a buffet style spread from Moroccan Deli-cacy (the team behind the legendary Moroccan Soup Bar).

Pascal and Seth’s advice to other couples planning their day; take a break from planning! The couple pencilled in ‘no-wedding-talk’ dates, where the topic was completely off the table. “This was really important for us, because otherwise all the time we spent together would have become planning sessions. The wedding was important and special but more important and special was our relationship in the first place, so remembering to nurture that became a big focus for us.”

Seth wore a divine vintage 1940’s cream crepe dress that she found on Etsy store Hungry Heart Vintage. Her bridesmaid’s donned dresses from their own wardrobes in light tones, which matched the laid-back vibe of the day.

Pascal and Seth had a stylist amongst their friends to lend a hand orchestrating the aesthetics of the day. The bride shares, “Our dear friend Ella Bendrups is an incredible stylist and she helped steer us in the right direction through a lot of the decision making.”

Photographer Marie-Luise captured sweet, emotion filled snaps of the day, with a warmth that was appreciated by the couple. “We made a friend when we hired Marie. By the end of the night she felt like family who would have been there regardless of whether or not she’d been taking the photos. The photos were so beautiful and natural, Marie unobtrusively captured everybody’s joy in the most stunning way.”

Apart from having just the right kind of rugged charm, fitting their budget and being just around the corner from their house, Coberg Moreland Bowls Club even permitted a certain guest of honor to attend. Seth shares, “Seeing our friend’s kids run around with our dog (Fred from the bowls club very graciously allowed her to be there on the day despite their no dogs rule) on the bowling green was pretty special.”

It really has that vintage look! I love the moments captured in this wedding. Having a wedding at the Bowls Club is definitely a unique and daring choice. But it was overall very nicely planned! Wonderful !!

Great post, but there’s a spelling mistake – it’s Coburg Moreland Bowls Club, not Coberg.

Was the bride aware that the back of her dress ripped and was shown in the photos? 😶 and the photo of her and her hubby crying at the altar, it looks like she had a big sweat mark? They’re such gorgeous photos but I feel like those things could have been edited out/hidden

Stay in the loop!
