What do you get when you pair a brand-new boutique warehouse with inspiration from epic carnivals of New Orleans? A colour-burst of fun! While South Australia is known for their vineyard weddings, Jackson Square comes as a modern and refreshing option for creative couples. The space, made for bold events, was perfect for the shoot’s incredible team of vendors, including stylist Memory Lane, all refusing to be bound by tradition. Organiser and photographer Valentina Perez shares all the details of this funky, modern shoot.

Concept

Aiming to create a bright, fun and edgy atmosphere, Valentina says she planned the shoot around couples who love colour, know what they want, and aren’t afraid to explore their wildest dreams. “This shoot comes to break the norm and explore a more eclectic aesthetic in a place that is like no other in Adelaide,” shares Valentina. Her models, Maddie and Ben, are one of these unapologetic and bold couples, whose attitudes were crucial to the shoot’s vibe. “Maddie and Ben were the first two people on my mind when I had the idea of creating this epic day, they are the epitome of fearlessness and authenticity,” says Valentina.

Ceremony and Bar Space

Kicking off the shoot with lots of wow factor, the ceremony setup was built around ottoman benches, neon signage, and an incredible array of bright florals, all commanding plenty of attention. The bar area on the other hand, which was just as bold, was created around the idea of a kissing booth! “We repurposed the floral and custom-made plinths used during the ceremony and Carolyn (the genius behind Sweet Nothings Flowers) created the most magical and almost wild floral installation around it,” explains Valentina.

Stationary

Using bold pops of red, pink and purple, Class Ink Designs nailed the brief with their modern take on invitations and bar signage. “We went for non-traditional and informal wedding jargon which contributed greatly to the overall feel and images,” says Valentina.

The Outfits

We think the images can pretty much speak for themselves when it comes to Maddie’s incredible bridal outfits! From the epic Caleche bridal jumpsuit, the stunning Caleche tulle skirt paired with an Ashlee Lauren headpiece, to that AMAZING tinsel jacket borrowed off a fellow photog friend!

The Cake

Another statement area, Valentina and her crew built an entire shrine to show off the masterpiece that was Terresia’s cake, designer at Lyons Den Cakes. “With hand-made 3D panelling and its delicate, industrial crown, we knew that we couldn’t just have a display area for this masterpiece,” admits Valentina.

Final Shots

“To round up the concept we organised one last set up outside the venue, in front of the main door,” remembers Valentina. “The beautiful purple door in which we finalised our shoot brought our colour palette full circle and accentuated the florals and shades of pink in the plinths.”
