Stine and Kyle’s Lisbon destination wedding was the perfect opportunity to bring their family and friends from all around the world together, in some cases for the first time! Photographer This Day Forward came along for the Portuguese adventure, planned all the way from their home in Melbourne.
With their close ones far and wide, the decision to have the wedding in Europe came naturally. “As I’m from Norway, Kyle’s from South Africa and we both live in Australia, we decided pretty quickly that it would have to be a destination wedding. To keep it as fair as possible, we decided to do it in a completely different country and ended up choosing a country and city that we both loved; Lisbon in Portugal. The weather, the food, the wine, the pastel de natas, the city, the people, basically everything about Lisbon is amazing.”
The ceremony and reception were held at Quinta Do Tagus, a private boutique hotel that had amazingly never hosted a wedding before. Stine and Kyle chose to say their ‘I do’s’ overlooking the incredible views of the azure water all the way to the city, under an arbour of muted greenery and white blooms.
The rest of the day was set amongst olive trees, with two long communal tables, styled simply with a curated selection of vases with white and green florals. “We wanted it to be a casual style wedding, where people could feel comfortable, eat good food, drink nice wine and listen to awesome music. Food, drinks and music were definitely on the top of our list from the very beginning. We knew the vibe would build from there.” Taking advantage of Portugal’s awesome seafood, dinner was a traditional Portuguese paella cooked on the spot and served straight to guests’ plates.
