Georgina and Anthony’s Elegant DIY Wedding

In the cosmopolitan setting of Church St Enoteca, Georgina and Anthony’s elegant wedding is not your typical DIY affair. A graphic designer and a musician, these two had a pretty clear idea of how they wanted their big day to unfold and knew the best way to realise their vision was to do it themselves. As a designer, Georgina wasn’t afraid to throw herself into DIY projects and spent countless hours creating every gorgeous detail. She tells me “Our motto for the day was ‘let’s have fun’ and we wanted our wedding to have lots of personal touches. Anthony and I spent many hours cutting out trivia sheets, making petal cones, sewing bunting, and sourcing little props from second hand stores.”

For the ceremony backdrop, the couple found an old fireplace mantle at a scrap yard, which they decorated with a string of lights and their own ‘love’ sign. With the help of the Anthony’s mum, Georgina put together all the floral arrangements with seasonal blooms sourced from Camberwell Markets.

Jenny Packham’s stunning Eden dress was the perfect choice for Georgina’s deco-inspired look. She paired this with an evening cape (made by Anthony’s mum) and finished the look with a 20s-style finger wave hairdo. Anthony wanted a classic look and decided on a black shawl tuxedo with bow tie.

Being creative people, photography was high on the list of priorities for Georgina and Anthony. As one of Anthony’s best friends, the talented Jason Vandermeer was the natural choice. Georgina tells me “Jason was not only our photographer but was also a groomsman, so he was a very important part of our day. His love of symmetry, colour and beauty combined with his calming nature is what we love about him. We were so incredibly moved by our photos which perfectly captured all of the special moments of our day.” See more of Jason’s handiwork here.
