Games on the Green have taken the lawn games trend to a whole new level. Their collection of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces include an oversized Four-in-a-Row, a Liberty print Hopscotch and (our favourite) a macramé Badminton net, to name but a few!

Lovingly handcrafted with faultless attention to detail, each piece is a conversation starter in its own right. They’re perfect for garden weddings, cocktail hour on the lawn and even warehouse and barn weddings, providing the venue’s suitably sizable.

Sound like your wedding? Well if you’re tying the knotor throwing an engagement party in 2017, you’re in luck. Games on the Green are giving away a lawn games hire package valued at $990! It’s super simple to enter – find all the details right here.

Melbourne duo Rhiannon and Kirralee are the brains behind the biz, and we caught up to chat all things lawn games and creating memorable celebrations.

Tell us about the team behind Games on the Green.

We’re long-time friends and with Kirralee’s experience as a skilled wedding photographer, and my events and public relations background, we’ve often talked about working together.

Games on the Green came about after throwing around a few crazy business ideas. But once we hit on it, we knew we had an outlet for our creative juices and a service that would add something new to weddings and events.

It’s been an amazing experience and we’ve picked up so many new crafting skills along the way. It’s incredible to see people playing with our games when they were just sketches a short time ago.

Lawn games are increasingly popular for weddings and outdoor celebrations, what sets Games on the Green apart?

Our games are handcrafted, so you won’t find them anywhere else, and we’ve super-sized lots of them like Four-in-a-Row, Topple Tower and Fall-out. Even family favourites like dominoes and naughts and crosses are fun on a huge scale. This helps to create a games area that looks inviting with options to suit everyone.

We know how stressful organising events can be too, so we offer the complete package. We bring the games, set them up and take them away at the end of the day – meaning no-one else has to lift a finger. We even provide a crew member to stay and rebuild the games to keep the fun flowing.

All of our games are made from wood and other natural materials, and we’ve spent weeks on each one to get the details just right.  This has helped to make them a real talking point and guests can’t wait to get their hands on them.

What are some personal favourites in your games collection?

Without a doubt our Four-in-a-Row is everyone’s favourite! It’s a real one-off. And at a generous 1.5m tall it even comes with its own steps so that everyone can play.

We also love our badminton set and, again, it’s a one of a kind with a macramé net we made ourselves. There’s just nothing else like it and people can’t help but smile and touch it when they see it!

What kind of weddings and events are your games best suited to?

They’re great for any occasion with options for both outdoor and indoor venues. They’re a great way to keep guests entertained at cocktail hours, or at receptions or post-wedding brunches. Guests of all ages can join in the fun and they’re perfect for breaking the ice with groups that don’t know each other very well. Equally, family and friendship groups love to challenge each other to a game or two and some friendly competition.

What everyone wants most from their wedding or party is for guests to enjoy their special day together. Our games help to bring people together in a fun, informal way and everyone remembers the laughs they had playing with them.

Who are some wedding vendors that you’ve loved working with?

We love others who go above and beyond for their brides and grooms, and offer them something different to the norm.

We’ve been inspired by people like Ruby and James for their style and creativity and Mickey Loves Jacqui for their attention to detail and quality print.

We also love working with celebrant Matt Finch who creates relaxed, fun ceremonies and we’re really looking forward to Grace the Vintage Ice Cream Truck hitting the road soon!
