Jess had often joked with Marco that she wouldn’t care what he spent on an engagement ring, he could propose with a $2 vending machine ring if he liked. So under a full moon on their fourth anniversary, that’s exactly what he did.

Both musicians, Jess’ love lies in folk while Marco hails from heavier side of things. The pair now perform together in the dark-folky fusion of The William Moon Book Society. Jess tells me “it’s so much fun to write, play and record music with your partner!”

Friend and photographer, Bonnie Jenkins, took the loved-up pair to a secret location she’d been saving for a special occasion. “We went for an afternoon stroll and played some music in the rolling hills,” says Bonnie, “they fitted so perfectly into the location.”

Amidst the excitement of getting engaged and the madness of planning a wedding, Jess admits “it was really nice to just spend some time together! We wanted to do something super relaxed and outdoors to capture our personalities. Bonnie was amazing at doing just that”

Oh, and if you’re wondering – these two did decide to find a ‘proper’ engagement ring together.
