Jess & Simon’s Pub Wedding at The Fitzroy Pinnacle
After meeting through friends at a pub, Jess and Simon thought it rather fitting that they should be married in one too. This warm and intimate wedding captured by Matt Godkin has plenty of Melbourne style and relaxed vintage charm.
As far as deciding which pub they would use as their venue, the choice seemed to present itself! They both go their local The Fitzroy Pinnacle every week for trivia, and trivia master Garry also happens to be a registered wedding celebrant. So after some brief negotiations it was set!
Keeping with the classic cosy pub charm, the pair styled the venue simply with foliage and native Australian flowers, adding some festoon lighting to the beer garden. Though neither are religious, Jess’ Jewish heritage saw them incorporate the breaking of the glass tradition into their ceremony to symbolise the commitment made on the day.
Drinks were provided by the pub, so they just had to bring in the food. Opting for party vibes for their reception, Jess and Simon set up a grazing table in lieu of a sit down meal. Salads and antipasto were from Smith St Alimentari, while Plains Paddocks served up meats including a whole pig! Billy Van Creamy was on site with eight different ice cream flavours. “People loved it and it was very easy to pick up and walk around with, so it didn’t disrupt the party atmosphere!”
