A Digital Marketer and a Barber walk into a bar… and the rest is history! Ten years of traveling later, including six years of calling London home, and this city-loving couple tied the knot at at Melbourne’s Butler Lane, perfectly captured by Long Way Home.

After stumbling on Butler Lane on Instagram, Kate and Lachlan instantly knew it would be their wedding spot. Not only did the urban location embody the couple’s love for all things cosmopolitan, but the venue’s ivy wall, exposed beams and polished concrete floors were perfect for their modern vision. Wild Flos adorned the ivy wall with blush floral pillars for their courtyard ceremony, and at sunset, they exchanged vows complete with close friend Rosalie Humbert as their celebrant. Their bridal party stuck to a monochrome theme, injecting colour through the flowers.

The couple opted to take their photos before the ceremony so they quickly joined their 110 guests for courtyard canapés before heading into Butler Lane where Peter Rowland took care of food and drinks. As for the reception’s details, Kate’s creative side chose round tables to get amongst their guests and autumn-toned flowers and tea lights in votives to soften Butlers Lane’s industrial space.

Later that night, Lachlan swapped his bow tie for an oversized velvet Tom Ford accessory, and it was time for a first dance to Marvin Gaye’s ‘Aint No Mountain High Enough’. For their dessert alternative, the couple opted for a cheese cake. Yes, a legitimate tower of cheese, lovingly created by Kate and Lachlan’s family at Bill’s Farm. What wasn’t enjoyed that night, was devoured at the following day’s recovery event!

Kate only visited one store to try on wedding dresses, and spotted the ‘Byron’ gown by Chosen by One Day as soon as she walked in. ‘I loved the simplicity of the gown, the texture of the fabric and the overall fit,’ she shares.

The couple describe their photographer, Steph from Long Way Home, as a complete superstar, explaining that she went above and beyond both in the lead up and on the wedding day. The pair chose to do their snaps pre-wedding, as they didn’t want to disappear post-ceremony. "It was the perfect way to break the ice before seeing everyone!"

It’s not often you see a bouquet with orchids in but it works SO well!

Stay in the loop!
