Tamarin & Steve’s Koh Samui Wedding

Two months ago, I married the love of my life. Planning our wedding was the inspiration for starting Nouba, so I’m pretty excited to share this with you! Our Koh Samui wedding at the spectacular YL Residence was captured by Eric Ronald, who (as well as giving us awesome photos) was an absolute riot and a treasured guest.

Stephen and I met almost 12 years ago on a train heading to Milan. I had just finished high school and was backpacking with my best friend and he was over from Manchester for a long weekend with his mates. Our personalities were chalk and cheese, but there was an instant chemistry which still hasn’t really faded. We did the long distance thing for a few years, but after exhausting our savings on airfares and phone bills, Steve made the difficult decision to leave his beloved England and move to Melbourne.

We decided on a Koh Samui wedding to save our European loved ones the long trek to Australia. It was wonderful to stretch out the celebration either side of the big day. Steve had a 2 day stag do in Bangkok and my hens consisted of island-cruising on a junk ship. We were in paradise and all our guests were in holiday mode, so it was pretty easy to put on a good wedding!

I wore Gwendolynne’s Deco gown, a stunning but lightweight number, perfect for the tropical humidity. I really couldn’t recommend Gwendolynne more highly – she is such a perfectionist and so incredibly talented. Steve and his men were suited by Vogue & Jackson, a great little ‘Gentlemen’s Boutique’ in Melbourne’s Flinders Lane.

We wanted lots of colour and minimal hassle, so kept our decorations simple. We collected a vast array of coloured fabrics from the markets, which everyone helped to tear into streamers to hang them from just about everything. Everyone pitched in to help with the setup, so when it all came together, it really felt like a group effort.

When the sun went down, the bonfire was lit and out came the bathers and the fancy dress. Our ceremony tipi was adorned in fairy lights and became our DJ tipi. Steve and a couple of good mates are DJs and provided the perfect soundtrack to our little beach party… we danced barefoot til sunrise.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% certain.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
