Emma & Tom’s Lawn Bowls wedding
When a designer and a stylist tie the knot, you know you’re in for something pretty creative. Emma and Tom recently wedded at their local lawn bowls club, in a colourful celebration packed with DIY details. Not that you’d expect anything less from the talented lass behind event styling business, Dropstitch (see some of Emma’s handiwork here).
With the help of friends, Emma styled and created every gorgeous detail of the day. Reluctant to be boxed-in by any one theme, she took inspiration from all sorts of places. “I decided to mix and match a bunch of things I liked, rather than settle on one theme. I mixed vintage vases with geometric prints, rustic brown bottles with patterned bunting, and added a disco ball for some dance floor sparkle.” She pulled it off perfectly, with day full of eclectic charm and sweet, personal details.
Emma recruited many of her talented industry pals, including photographers Libby Edwards (who shot the ceremony and portraits) and Alexandra Cohen (who captured the details and candid stuff). For a camera-shy couple, Emma and Tom loved having a friend behind the lens to put them at ease and take the formality out of the process.
Emma’s gorgeous wedding dress was a bespoke creation by her good friends at On A Whim, and featured daisy lace harvested from a vintage wedding dress found at an op shop. Her pale blue dancing dress was made by another pal over at Peppermint Milk and required over 140 metres of tulle!
From a bride who made and coordinated every last detail of her wedding day, Emma has these words of wisdom… “Planning a wedding can be a bit stressful but if you give yourself enough time and trust your gut instincts it can also be really enjoyable. Don’t let other people pressure you into doing things a certain way do whatever makes you and your partner happy!” Couldn’t agree more.
