Sarah & Luke’s Mindaribba House Wedding

We love a workplace love affair so Sarah and Luke’s story is right up our alley. “We met at work in Brisbane and at first Luke played it cool, mysterious even… although my version is that Luke was just being really awkward!” Sarah tells us, before adding, “Everything changed, however, after the office Christmas party…” With Lara Hotz and Light Noise Films along for the ride, they tied the knot at Mindaribba House in the Hunter Valley.
Sarah’s Gatsby-esque dress started as a swatch of ivory lace with an embellished triangle design. The sample had just arrived in Yulia Mc Couture’s studio and as Sarah described her vision, the designer practically leapt off her seat to retrieve the fabric. “We spent about nine months designing and making the dress,” Sarah tells us, “drawing on elements from dresses I’d tried on and liked and then moulded them to my body-shape.”
The Gatsby era was also echoed in the theme and styling of the day, with a rustic country twist. Sarah and Luke discovered Mindaribba House – an 18th century estate in the Hunter Valley – and fell in love. “It’s not only gorgeous, the property has so much character. We wanted a space that would be casual yet elegant and Mindaribba was all of those things.” After the ceremony guests sipped on French champagne, gin, vodka and whiskey and much dancing ensued – and there’s no wonder with a liquor line-up like that!
