James & Jenn’s Cosy Carlton Wedding at Mr Pietro
An eye for detail and a shared love of Italian food were at the heart of this marketer/designer duo’s Carlton wedding. Jenn and James whipped up their modern Melbourne do in just four months, enlisting a few superstar vendors to help make their vision a reality. Kyra Boyer was the lady behind the lens, and her natural photography style suited this low-key wedding to a tee.
An impossibly romantic proposal in Tuscany informed the culinary choice and venue for the day. The pair fell in love with cosy Italian eatery, Mr Pietro, for its intimate feel and fabulous lo-fi fare. “We loved the genuine, down to earth vibe, and the amazing brother/owner team (Pietro & Joe) who willingly gave us full creative freedom of their venue,” Jenn explains. “We had a Chinese Tea ceremony upstairs, followed by western ceremony, dinner and party downstairs.”
Jenn and James kept things fun and heart-felt for the ceremony. “Our family walked down the aisle first to lots of cheers and our favourite Bob Dylan song, followed by us walking down the aisle together,” Jenn explains. Celebrant Jam (AKA Jamima Yue Xiu Wu) brought the sass and the pair shared their own vows in front of a wild and vibrant floral sculpture by Hattie Molloy on denHolm cement plinths.
Dinner was the the main event for this foodie affair, with rustic Italian fare aplenty. Jenn tells us the feast included meat balls in tomato sauce, cannelloni, Sicilian style roast chicken, roast pork, grilled pawns, salads and roast potatoes. Delicious!
No matter how simple a wedding, pulling it together in just four months is no meant feat. Jenn and James tell us it got pretty stressful at times, but the big day was pay-off… and they were sure to let let off some steam at the after party!
