Catherine & Daniel’s Vibrant MONA Wedding

Catherine and Daniel have a whole lotta history between them, having become mates at uni – “We joke that Daniel needed friends and I needed good grades!” Laughs Catherine – and remaining friends for two years before anything progressed. Since graduating from friend status, Daniel popped the question on the beach and the pair tied the knot in his home state of Tasmania, at MONA, no less!

Photographer Jonathan Wherrett captured the day, and according to the couple, MONA was an easy choice. “We had visited years before we were engaged, and had said at the time that it would be a perfect venue for a wedding. We live in Brisbane, but wanted to get married in Tasmania as that’s where Daniel is from. We didn’t have a theme as such but really wanted to highlight Tasmania to all our QLD friends and family.”

Planning an interstate wedding is always a little daunting, but with Bek Burrows – stylist extraordinaire – on board, these babes had nothing to worry about.”I owe my sanity to Bek!” Tells Catherine. “She was absolutely wonderful and we spent so many hours on the phone putting the details together. Made planning an interstate wedding a breeze!”

Catherine was lucky to have a ring at all, after their house was broken into and her ring was stolen just days before the wedding. David Rogers was kind enough to make a replacement and had it delivered to them in just two days. Lifesaver!

We love a groom who lets his true colours shine and we're head-over-heels for Daniel's velvet magenta jacket by Declic! The rest of his outfit comes courtesy of Michael Innis Menswear and he pulled off the dapper look perfectly.

A true god send, Bek Burrows was responsible for the day's styling and prop hire, as well as the stunning floristry! She designed Catherine’s bouquet to tie in with Daniel’s vibrant jacket and we love those rich hues.

Catherine looked positively regal in an elegant Pronovias gown, complete with lace and boning, and her gorge veil was found via Etsy store Madame Tulle.

Aside from its obvious architectural beauty and iconic status, MONA made for a wonderful venue, allowing a last minute indoor location change to Source Restaurant for the ceremony due to weather.

It was love at first sight when Catherine and Daniel discovered the work of Jonathan Wherrett, and they wouldn't have had anyone else capture their day.
