Jess & Chris’ Mornington Peninsula Elopement

There’s something so deeply intimate about an elopement; forget the frills and fanfare, just two people promising it all to one another in the most down-to-earth way. Just impossibly romantic.

Jess and Chris knew a big wedding wasn’t for them. One night over dinner they made the decision to elope and six weeks later that’s exactly what they did! Together with their little guy, Angus, and two very dear friends, Jess and Chris tied the knot on a cliff top on the Mornington Peninsula.

Their little crew also included Jon Von Goes (possibly the coolest celebrant you’ll ever meet) and photographer Jessica Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel fame (see more of Jess’ work here). The bride explains “as we were eloping, it was really important to us to have some beautiful photos to share with our family and friends. Jessica was amazing, she understood exactly what we wanted, and she captured our day exactly as it was, simple and laid back. We were so relaxed around her; it was more like she was an old friend!”

As the owner of divine children’s homewares store, Hello Milky, the lovely bride is no stranger to style. Very few people could pull off her gorgeous look in a $50 Asos dress, chosen specifically to hide her little 5 month bump (yup, Angus is getting a lil brother or sis)! Simple sandals, mum’s necklace and a last-minute DIY flower crown completed the sweetly simple look.

Jess admits that after nine happy years together, getting married had become something of a ‘formality’ to them. But this intimate affair was anything but, and needless to say she felt quite different on the day.

“I was so overwhelmed by the way I felt when we were exchanging our vows. It was so intimate and honest and I have never felt more immersed in the moment. It was the most beautiful thing, I’ll never forget how that felt.”
