Alex & Emma’s Mountain Goat Brewery Wedding
This DIY-loving duo went to town on their Mountain Goat Brewery wedding, handcrafting a very personal, very chilled affair. “We wanted to honour the venue,” they say, “so our flowers were beer bottles that we collected in the months leading up to the event” – our kind of wedding planning. Leo Farrell was behind the lens, bringing us all the day’s loveliness.
These two met at uni, getting well acquainted over coffee in their shared two-hour weekly break. “After six months we realised there was more to our coffee breaks than good chat!” they tell me, and seven-and-a-half-years later they’re well and truly travelled and shacked up with Moscow their fluffy Russian Blue – conveniently, a mere stone’s throw from the brewery. “We clicked immediately with Sam, the venue manager. We were able to make our own decisions, but know that execution was totally safe in her hands.”
Prior to the wedding their hands got busy with everything from the stationary (based around Mountain Goat coasters), florals, decorations and dessert cupcakes. Bright Young Things brought a bounty of food, filling the tums of their 160 guests. Loving Emma’s knee-skimming number? Look no further than Lover the Label, and the sweet rose and baby’s breath clusters tucked into her locks came care of Hawthorn’s Canary Jane Flowers.
One of their favourite parts of the day was getting ready together. “It was so relaxing and made for such a lovely start to the celebration,” says Em, before telling me about another special detail. “Instead of gifts for our wedding we asked friends and family to consider donating to the JMB Foundation, an organisation close to both our hearts.” The generous party raised over $5,600, spreading the love far and wide.
