Mountain Goat Brewery in Richmond was the first and only venue Rachael and Jack looked at for their wedding. With a shared love for craft beer, the duo knew getting married at a brewery would be the perfect fit for them. Reflecting their low-key personalities, the ceremony and reception was stripped back to showcase what the venue already offered. Stylist Paula from The Small Things Co complimented the brewery’s exposed brick and high ceilings with minimal touches of gold and copper, while Viv from Flos Botanical Studio tied everything together with moody-romantic flowers.

Flowers

When it came to Flowers, Viv of Flos Botanical Studio was an easy choice. “We knew there was no point going elsewhere after both being a follower of hers on insta for some time. Viv is one talented lady who provided us with a mood board to view with florals matching our colour theme. I was so excited to receive our flowers on the day which she delivered herself and see the mood board brought to life.”

Bridal Party

Looking for a dress that would be timeless and classic, Rachael stumbled upon the Kylah Gown by Rachel Gilbert. “After trying on a handful of dresses I knew I wanted a beaded number,” shares Rachael. She completed her look with Roni Kantor Shoes, earrings by The Traveller Series and a Raffaele Ciuca veil. For her Bridesmaids, she chose City Chic and Forever New styles, shoes from Famous Footwear and earrings by The Gem Co. Onto hair and makeup, Rachael tells us Kelly from KX Hair Design nailed the vintage glamour look and Danielle Ebeyan Makeup Artistry ensured nobody looked overdone.

Cake

On cake-making duties was Cindy Crosbie from The Sweet Hall, a friend of Rachael’s. “Having also made our engagement cake we knew Cindy would be making our cake for the big day,” says Rachael. She provided me with cupcake sized taste testers and made the process of choosing which flavours and style of cake so much fun. Cindy is very creative and talented.”

Transport

Staying true to their laidback nature, the couple had pre-booked Ubers for the bridal party. “With our venue being indoors we didn’t think it was necessary to organise anything fancy,” says Rachael. “My dad being a mechanic didn’t want a bar of this and organised a red Cadillac for me to arrive in which was so much fun! Tony from Cadillac Style Car Hire made this happen.”

Photography

Photographer Georgia Verrells was recommended to Rachael and Jack by a friend. “After looking at her work we knew we had to get in touch,” says Rachael. “Being a northsider also, we met her at a local bar for a cocktail. If you are after a fun, professional photographer who makes you feel at ease, Georgia is your girl. Nothing goes unmissed with Georgia and she certainly captured some amazing moments from our day.”

Final Words

Rachael and Jack felt extremely lucky to get married just two days before COVID-19 restrictions came into effect. “We know that this meant a lot of couples had to either cancel their weddings or have something different to what they originally planned,” says Rachael. They also made it a mission of theirs to support local vendors with every element of their big day. “It made the process a lot of fun and we knew we could rely on these vendors who take such pride in their work,” explains Rachael. We are thinking of them all during COVID and hope that this blog feature creates some future opportunities for them all.”
