Clair & Marty’s Nanga Bush Camp Wedding

September 28, 2014
We love a Nanga Bush Camp wedding. The best thing about the Dwellingup patch? It’s a beautiful, foresty blank canvas. “It meant that we could choose our own caterer, purchase our choice of beer and wine and importantly, our guests could spend the night,” say Clair and Marty, the chilled pair who asked for nothing more than a relaxed celebration with glorious grub and grog.
A few weeks before the day, however, they were anything but relaxed – discovering their leafy ceremony location had been cleared for a caravan park. “I was distraught,” Clair tells me, but she and Marty had a lucky find – “a group of trees randomly off the main road somewhere between Dwellingup and Waroona, which turned out to be more perfect than I could have imagined.” These guys are big on the great outdoors, having met in the middle of the Pilbara desert. “The first few months we were tucked up, sharing a king single bed and creeping back to our dongas so no one would find out about our secret love. Turns out everyone knew.”
A marriage proposal in New York City sealed the deal. “I cannot describe the moment when someone asks you to be theirs forever,” says Clair, and we’re quite certain Marty would struggle putting the moment she appeared in that stunning Ingrid Hocking Couture gown into words. They were wed by the ‘fluff-free’ Dennis Buckle (“what a champion”) before heading to Nanga. “We wanted to create the feeling of a big family dinner,” which Jon and the team from JKL Exclusive Caterers delivered with a scrumptious spread.
Clair had desperately wanted Tim Coulson to capture the day, and he didn’t disappoint. “I didn’t feel the need to explain what we wanted,” says the very happy bride. “I trusted him with everything and the results are magnificent. I can’t wait for our family to grow and have Tim capture those moments as well!”
