Jules & Josh’s Neon Jungle Wedding at The Warehouse Geelong

A colourful, vintage-inspired party that was all about good times and good tunes, Geelong couple Jules and Josh chose to tie the knot in a space they could paint their personalities all over. Decked out by Good Day Club in neon and a pink glitter, The Warehouse Geelong was transformed into a kitsch dream for a cocktail-style soiree, complete with catering from Fourside Events and a visit from The Hippy Whippy ice cream van. Smitten Wedding Photography came along to capture all the fun.

Styling

It’s no surprise we have to kick things off with the epic styling details! Enlisting help from Good Day Club, Kate and her team came up with a neon jungle concept that Jules and Josh say couldn’t have been more ‘them’. “They took so much time getting to know us and the vision for the day and came up with a concept which was so much more than we could have ever imagined,” says Jules. Nailing the couple’s big party brief, the final look included plenty of neon, colourful furniture, kitsch props, lots of pink and scattered greenery to create a fun and vibrant atmosphere. “Kate and the team from Good Day Club were truly phenomenal to work with, and one of the big reasons our day was such a success,” says Jules.

Bridal Party

Feminine and classic, Jules wore a Karen Willis Holmes off-the-shoulder gown with her hair in waves by Ash Craperi Hair, paired with a bold red lip thanks to Hilary Holmes Makeup and statement Lele Sadoughi earrings for extra wow factor. Her something borrowed was a vintage family heirloom bracelet from 1901, originally from her great-grandmother’s wedding day. Introducing us to a world of colour, her six bridesmaids stunned in assorted pink, red and purple silky gowns with bouquets of roses by The Posie Place to match.

Ceremony

After guests had an initial chance to drink and mingle, the ceremony began with Jules walking down the aisle to All Saint’s ‘Pure Shores’. Meeting at a vintage rug, under a neon til’ death sign, the couple exchanged vows, led by celebrant and stand out-vendor Nat Sproal. “It was honestly like having a mate you have known for years up there by your side, making you and the guests laugh and cry, offering a hand on the shoulder when needed, getting the rowdy guests in line when needed, and starting the day off with a massive BANG,” says Jules. Playing tribute to some of their favourite songs during the ceremony, Josh’s grandmothers bore witness to Bic Runga’s Sway, while Don’t You Forget About Me was saved until the two were pronounced husband and wife!

Reception

Kicking off straight after the ceremony, the reception featured a hot pink grazing table with all the classic nibbles and canapes (thanks Fourside Events) as well as freshly shucked Oysters from Richmond Oysters. Keeping guests giggling, Jules and Josh were introduced to their guests to the sounds of Kasabian’s ‘You’re In Love With a Psycho’. Then, taking the place of a traditional wedding cake, The Hippie Whippy served up soft serve ice-cream straight from their pink truck. Later in the night, Jules swapped her gown for a sequined Elliatt party dress and Adidas kicks, before gourmet toasties were passed around as a late-night snack. Their favourite moment from the night? “A few of our mates spontaneously put us on their shoulders during Mr Brightside by the Killers,” Jules remembers.

Venue

Wanting to be married in the town they call home, while also keen to inject their personalities into a venue, The Warehouse Geelong was a no-brainer. Making their dreams a reality were owners Yolanda and Darren, who the couple say were super professional and personable. “They accommodated our every request, were really open to all of our ideas in the lead up and almost felt like friends we had known forever,” says Jules.
