Kristina Childs Photography perfectly captured this moustached romeo and his candy-pink haired bride at their vibrant wedding in the gardens of Northey Street City Farm, complete with a menagerie of pink plastic flamingos, stuffed toys and plenty of DIY touches.
Tim and Kristie met at their retail jobs, fell in love and moved in together across the road from the City Farm in Brisbane. So when Tim proposed whilst on a camping trip (which meant Kristie could stop trying to set up their tent in the rain and head into the beautiful apartment Tim had waiting for them) they knew they wanted to return to the community garden to set up their special day just how they wanted it. “We just wanted to incorporate our love of Kitsch and bright colours, and also nature,” says Kristie.
Channeling a vintage ballerina vibe, the bride chose a tulle skirt and lace top from When Freddie Met Lilly and the dapper groom wore a continental tie with his Jack London suit. There were tears and laughter as the couple exchanged personally written vows as their guests, the pink flamingoes and op shop toy panthers watched on.
Guests went back for seconds at the epic buffet from Entice Me Cafe and Catering and chased it with some wedding cake from Cakes by Judy C and homemade brownies. Tim’s mum and dad absolutely killed it in the speech department, narrating a documentary-type speech on the laws of attraction and leading the party into a TV theme sing-a-long. “They also wrote a parody to the Brady Bunch theme song about us,” says Kristie.
