Blessed with a backdrop as charming as the Old Forest School, Carly and Scott’s intimate New Zealand wedding was bound to be a beauty! Looking utterly in their element, the two swapped vows in the quaint restored schoolhouse, and who better to capture it all than Auckland-based photographer, Danelle Bohane?
The pair met in university and after seven years together, Scott popped the question in the most creative of ways. After conning a tired Carly into walking the dog on their anniversary, he pulled a bottle of champagne from a bush along the way and told her he had bought a new collar for the dog, “I bent down to look at it and embroidered on it was ‘Carly, will you marry me?’”
With friends in far-flung places, these sweethearts had many guests making the journey to New Zealand. “We knew this may be the only time all of our family and friends would be together in one place at one time, so we kept the guest list reasonably small and intimate.”
Quite the creative in her everyday life as a photographer and art tutor, Carly was destined to be a natural when it came to styling the wedding. With a little help from her florist (On My Hand) this ambitious bride opted for a decadent ‘Dutch Still Life’ theme, complete with messy arrangements of fruit and richly-coloured blooms, furry taxidermy friends and quirky collectables.
