The premise behind She Wears White is simple – to showcase the most exciting bridal fashion available in the west. The Perth bridal fashion fest is happening July 30, 2016 at Lamont’s Bishops House and promises to be a luxe affair of gorgeous gowns, flowing champagne and a relaxed, ambient vibe.
We chatted with the event’s founder (and chief stylist at Some Kind of Wonderful) Holly Mason, about what guests can expect from this exciting new event.
What was the inspiration for She Wears White and who is the team behind it?
She Wears White: A bridal Fashion Fest is brought to you by Some Kind of Wonderful (Event Stylist and Coordinators.) We are supported by our amazing sponsors, who have helped bring the creative side of this event to life, including A Moveable Feast, Botanica Naturalis, Lamont’s Bishops House, Peggy Saas Photography and many more incredible local talents.
When I was getting married I ended up putting down a deposit on a dress that I wasn’t completely in love with only to lose my deposit when I found a designer who was perfect! As wedding coordinators and women in our twenties we have met many brides who have been through the exact same thing, losing some times thousands of dollars on dresses that weren’t quite right because they weren’t fully informed on what was out there. We came up with the concept of She Wears White as an event that would simply educate new brides on the exciting range of bridal fashion in Perth. Making that our foundation, we decided to build the event into something that would not only showcase Perth’s best bridal through runway shows, but also sweep our guests off their overwhelmed wedding planning feet and into a space that is so beautifully styled that they get a shiver down their spines.
Tell us a little about how the event will unfold. What can attendees expect?
There are three shows throughout the day; morning, afternoon and evening. Guests will enter the gates and walk up the winding garden path of Lamont’s Bishops House, towards the clear marquee nestled in the shadow of the grand homestead to be greeted by champagne-bearing and wait staff. The ceiling of the marquee is lined with lights, foliage and blooms, the music will be soft and ambient. While finding their seats by the catwalk, guests can enjoy canapes and more complimentary beverages and shows host, the Bachelor’s Louise Pillidge will announce the show.
The first part show will run for 45 minutes, there is a 25-minute intermission where guests can enjoy refreshments, socialise, talk to the designers and sponsors and wander the amazing century-old gardens of Bishops House. The second half of the show will then run for another 40 minutes, after which, guests are invited to continue talking to designers and sponsors until doors close 30 minutes later.
Who are some of the key designers you’ll be showcasing?
Betty Tran, Rue de Seine, Karen Willis Holmes, Zanzis Bridal Couture, and Jack London are just some of the incredible designers we’ll be showcasing. We feel exceptionally privileged to also have several up and coming bridal designers launching on our catwalk, so brides will be able to get a genuine feel as to what is available to them.
Will brides be able to try on and purchase dresses on the day?
We believe the trying on of dresses is a special time that should not be rushed. Therefore, Brides won’t be able to try the dress on or make purchases, but they will be able to talk to the designers and boutique owners about their preferred dresses/styles and set up appointments.
Everyone who attends will go into the draw to win one of three chapel-length Elvi Design veils, one $1000.00 voucher to go towards a Betty Tran Wedding Dress and one of five $300.00 vouchers to go towards Betty Tran Bridesmaids or Mother of the Bride gowns.
Is it exclusively bridal or will you be showcasing groom and bridesmaid fashion too?
Jack London is our key men’s label and some of the bridal designers and boutiques will showcase select bridesmaids options.
Any tips for brides to get the most out of the event?
