When MJ and Jimmy were planning their wedding, they followed three rules: keep it fun, keep it simple, and keep it as non-traditional as possible. So they threw a super fun and super simple party, ‘that happened to have a wedding in the middle of it’. From pre-drinks with guests to mid-ceremony heckling, MJ and Jimmy put on the ultimate laidback shindig, captured by We Are All Stardust.

The Standard’s colourful courtyard was the perfect spot for the couple’s relaxed ceremony, which skipped on the vows to laugh and joke with their guests, with the help of celebrant Andrew Pickering. Jimmy and MJ will tell you this was where the true entertainment began, where they encouraged jeers from their guests, and their best friend wore a mascot suit to be the official ‘Ring Bear’ of the day!

From there, the non-traditional details just kept coming. The couple’s cake by My Mamma Bakes was decorated with a cactus bride and groom, and although MJ’s Fara Couture dress was a contemporary beauty, the bride chose the comfort route post-ceremony by changing into pants and a t-shirt.

As for the rest of the night, The Standard kept the drinks flowing and the food coming. While the couple decided on no bridal party, they chose one of their best friends to MC and others to give speeches, truly keeping it fun and simple.

The couples best advice? There isn’t a perfect anything, they suggest to ‘let go of perfection and enjoy’. We’ll drink to that!
