Jess and Nick’s Auckland Picnic Wedding

Jess and Nick’s idea of a perfect wedding day didn’t involve “awkward seating arrangements or waiting around for the wedding party.” Instead they opted for a relaxed picnic wedding where guests were free to eat, drink and mingle to their hearts’ content, with A Couple of Night Owls on hand with cameras ready.
Jess wore a vintage French lace dress from Secret Lace Bridal and family heirloom diamond earrings while Nick looked dapper a suit by Working Style and his father’s wedding shoes. When it came to the bridal party they kept things relaxed and a bit quirky with mismatched white dresses for the girls and wooden bow ties from Two Guys Bow Ties for the guys. The bride and bridesmaids each carried a unique bouquet of wildflowers created by Florienne.
Following the ceremony in the sweet little Church of St Thomas in Whitford, guests sprawled out on blankets at Omana Regional Park and enjoyed the chilled out sounds of Cody Tucker whilst devouring the contents of picnic baskets – chilled rosé, cheeses, olives, crackers and homemade chutneys and relishes, while One Little Wagon served cocktails and beer. After a BBQ dinner, the party kicked on to the local community hall where they danced the night away to Father and Sons.
The couple really poured their hearts into the day, and managed to keep the budget in check with Jess designing their logo, stationery, wedding website and styling and Nick taking a week off prior to the wedding to pull everything together. They also involved their family and friends, borrowing items and asking them to cater dinner and dessert. Even their dog, Morrison, joined in for a portrait session!
