Born and bred Brits Nick and Catherine have made their home in Sydney and wanted to celebrate the best of both worlds when it came to their wedding. An intimate ceremony on a yacht in the harbour gave Sydney’s summer an opportunity to shine, while a posh English picnic at The Superintendents Residence in Centennial Park kept their pals from across the pond feeling right at home.

With The Robertsons behind the lens, these two lovebirds pulled off the perfect laid back wedding day, from the Pimms picnic on gingham rugs, right down to Catherine’s tea-length Vivienne Westwood dress. The couple’s good friend, Vicki Uriate of Urban Cooking Collective brought a taste of England to the day with freshly baked scones, quiches and cucumber sandwiches, while lawn games and the Vintage Patina photobooth kept both the kids and adults happy.

London Cab Weddings provided transport for the day and aside from perfectly fitting in with their theme, Nick and Catherine’s cab helped them make a stylish getaway at the end of the night! There’s no doubt that this wedding was totally original and if the couple could hand out one slice of advice it’d be this: “Don’t settle for an identikit wedding. Really think about what will suit you best as a couple and go for it! There are so many amazing vendors with endless amounts of energy and imagination out there who can create a really unique and special day just for you.”

Filled with nerves like many newlyweds to be, Catherine and Nick wanted to have an intimate ceremony and The Count 57' Beneteau Yacht allowed just that. After sailing the harbour, they dropped anchor at Lavender Bay and swapped vows.

“We wanted to go for a fun eclectic style that felt summery and typically English.” Catherine says of their dress code. Not wanting anything too traditionally ‘bridal’, she was delighted to find a classic tea length number, by Vivienne Westwood no less! Nick was fully fitted out by Oscar Hunt and his blue blazer/beige trousers/spotted bow-tie was the perfect summer ensemble.

Can't help but drool over this best of British spread by Urban Cooking Collective! Whole baked ham and all the trimmings, pickled eggs and specialty cheeses from Catherine’s hometown in the UK as well as hot beef brisket with mustard and pickles. Yum!

The Superintendent’s Residence at Centennial Park worked out brilliantly!” Catherine says of their reception venue. “We were able to give all our overseas guests a place to stay, our friends with young kids were able to chill out in the lounge or use the kitchen when bubs needed feeding and we also set up a special cot room and hired a babysitter so overtired toddlers could nap while their parents enjoyed the party.” Genius!
