Jordan & Jake’s Opulent Porteño Wedding

Opulent with a touch of old world charm – that’s how we’d describe Jake and Jordan’s nuptials at Surry Hill’s Porteño. The pair go way back – they shared their first kiss as 13 years old at high-school, were ‘just friends’ for a long time before things turned romantic and even committed to raising a pre-marital fur baby together (a pug by the name of Igor!).

With Porteño’s Buenos Aires-inspired décor, the wedding had a slight Argentinian feel and we think it suited Jake and Jordan’s own style perfectly. In terms of the finer details, the pair struggled to pick a favourite – “It was really the whole venue,” says Jordan. “The food, the wine, the light. Porteño is such a rich, magical place. We have amazing memories and Jess (of Brown Paper Parcel) managed to catch some incredible photos of two awkward people!”

No matter how many times you’ve heard it before, Jordan stresses the importance of one particular piece of wedding advice – “Make the most of every moment, spend time with your partner, take time out to take it all in.” she says. “The ceremony started at 3pm, we didn’t leave the after party until 2am and it still wasn’t long enough!”

"My bridesmaids and I took care of the flowers," Jordan shares. "It was the best fun, and I was super happy with the results."

Cat Smith made a statement in the beauty department, giving Jordan a killer smokey eye and bold lip.

Jordan was never going to conform to the bridal look and after struggling at first, she finally found an alternative during a late night trip to Bondi Junction. A metallic Bianca Spender top and midnight-blue Backstage Label skirt was the perfect pairing.

This might be the coolest bridal party we've seen, and Jake - with perfectly coiffed hair and Jack London polka dot blazer - made quite the smashing groom.

Marriage means something different to everyone and we love the sentiment these sweethearts hold dear. “Marriage is having a best friend for life who will always be next to me in a room full of strangers.” Jordan tells us. “It’s the certainty of them that is the best feeling.”

Jessica Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel captured the vibe of the day perfectly and these newlyweds were definitely impressed. “We knew from the start that Jess was exactly what we were after. She is incredible, kind and calm - exactly what I needed when standing in front of a lens!”

“When I found Porteño I knew I'd found what I had been looking for,” says Jordan. “We had been planning on going to dinner there for a long time. It is an incredible venue; the food is indescribably amazing and the interior is to die for! Plus Catherine from Porteño was phenomenal. I was clueless about what needed to be organised, but she made everything happen and met our every request.”

“My sister-in-law Beth O’Brien is a pastry chef by trade,” says Jordan “and made us a phenomenal cake that had layers of gingerbread mud-cake, pumpkin-pie spice mud-cake and pumpkin-pie spice buttercream. It was to die for!”

Getting the party started is vital and Adam from The Vintage Stylus managed to do so, effortlessly it seems! “Everyone loved the music!” Jordan tells us. “He understood the vibe we were after and brought his experience to ensure everyone had fun and things ran smoothly.”
